Here, on the left is what the perfect sample of soil would look like. And on the right is what the soil in the park looks like:

On the left we have the-Subsoil, and on the right, is not weathered rocks or bed rock. John's findings were exactly what the local history of the area says: This park was a gravel mine, closed over 100 years ago and then filled in with the land fill of the era, probably from dredging parts of Lake Ontario. In just over 100 years the microbial life within the soil has managed to create these layers.
