The Bike Pirates

At first, when Geoffrey introduced himself to me as the Leader of the Bike Pirates, and asked me about bringing a group of cyclists up to the garden, I was a bit confused...
But now I know what they are all about. They help people fix their bikes for free or donation. You can also use the space and tools to fix your bike on your own. As well, they have a kitchen and cook meals for the volunteers and the visitors that have come to fix their bikes.

It just so happened that Friday June 19th was their Third Mass Ride and Meal.
They invited people to join the Bike Pirates for a mass ride to the local community gardens in the west end area. After the ride they all sat down to a group vegetarian meal provided at Bike Pirates new location 1292 Bloor St. W.
The group arrived around 8pm. It was quite the site: forty cyclist coming down the street and walking across the park to see the garden. And the bike parking was quite colourful too.
They took a tour of the garden, asking questions and marveling at how lush and green every thing was. We were glad to have these visitors and hope they will feel free to come by again.
