Carrot Cache update report: June Success - We Moved The Shed!! -
Edward, Joe, and Alison joined the Parks Forestry and Recreation staff, and our new Park Supervisor Brian Green. As well, Jamie had gone into the Shed early in the morning to remove the contents so nothing would get damaged.

And ... at long last - we got the Garden shed moved to the new location. and they were able to move it the whole distance (four feet north and two feet east). The first step was to move the shed away, and we inspected the base. It is made of wood, and has suffered a bit of decay around the entrance where the rain enters the shed a bit. There was limestone screening, but it was never tamped, and it wasn't as deep as we had made it in the area where we extended the limestone to accommodate the move. Never the less, the men working the machinery took the time to tamp the lime stone, made it even and we place patio tiles for the new foundation, it will save to base of the shed from deteriorating too quickly.
Thanks to the many gardeners and volunteers and neighbours that helped to move all the stuff out of the shed the day before, and in the early morning, as well as helped carrying the patio tiles from the cememnt bunker area over to the Parks employees.

And we would like to welcome back Brian Green, as the park supervisor - He is the one that originally put the garden into this park in 2005.
The purpose of moving the shed in the first place was to get the best advantage of the sun, for our solar panels. That is part of our project to create a porch/façade, around the shed to make it look more cottage like. To enhance the socializing in the evenings. the solar panels will operate a moving water fountain so that we can have running water for our pollinators - birds and insects, with out the threat of breeding mosquitoes.
