SUMMER EVENING GARDEN GATHERING
POT LUCK AND MUSIC
Date - Friday July 15th from 6:00 pm ‘til dark
.
Come join the Perth Dupont Community Garden
as we enjoy our fresh veggies and music.
This was the invitation that we sent out to the people in our neighbourhood to join with us for a little gathering.

I would like to thank the Events Team (Andrea - as Captain and Alison) for planning this event, and there were many gardeners that helped with the set up - the tent and tables, as well as the chairs and decorations.
As it turns out, only one person played the guitar, however, it was really pleasant. It was a really hot day, and the park had not cooled off yet when folks started to arrive, so we sat in the shade, listened to the music, and had good conversations as we enjoyed the good food. Some of the gardeners had used their fresh harvested produce in the food that they brought, and, picked an hour before the gathering was to start, Andrea, Samantha and Malcolm, gathered fresh peas from plot #9. I was glad to have the peas available for people to discover the taste of fresh peas - yes, you do not need to cook them, they are great raw, and just a little technique to pop open the pods!

As it grew dark Andrea lit her hand made paper bag lanterns, just small paper bags, with a scoop of sand in the bottom and a tea candle. Placed around the garden pathways and on top of the fence posts, they decorated the garden area and lit the way for folks as the toured the garden.
It was very nice to see new faces from the neighbourhood, neighbours that had just discovered that there was a garden tucked away in this park.
